Surgery - At Hill Country Equine we specialize in elective surgical procedures. Our area of emphasis includes: arthroscopic surgery, angular and flexural limb deformity surgeries, tendon/ligament/bone/joint surgeries, reconstructive soft tissue surgeries, reproductive surgeries, respiratory surgeries and dental/sinus surgeries.

Lameness - Lameness exams and prepurchase exams are core procedures performed at HCE. Your horse's lameness exam will include a baseline lameness evaluation, flexion tests, diagnostic nerve and joint blocks, digital radiographs and ultrasound exams. Treatment options are discussed and tailored to meet both the owner and horse's needs.

Ultrasound - Using the latest in ultrasound technology, we can provide the highest detailed images

Radiology - Our clinic has all digital radiograph machines ensuring that your horse receives the best images possible. These digital images can easily be burned to disk or emailed for future reference.

Stem Cell Therapy - In house stem cell therapy is our newest addition to HCE. Horses with injured tendons, ligaments or joints can now have stem cell therapy performed in one day at our hospital as a standing procedure. Fat harvested from the horse's hind quarter is processed through a series of steps to derive stem cells which are then injected into the problem site.

Shockwave Therapy - Shockwave therapy is similar to the lithotripsy technology used to break up kidney stones in humans. This unit operates at a slightly different frequency that helps to stimulate new vessel formation in the affected area. In addition it promotes the formation of normal fibrous tissue over that scar tissue that would normally form after an injury. In orthopedic cases, the shockwave will help to organize and better promote the normal laydown and breakdown of bone.

Endoscopy - We have two endoscopes available at HCE. The one meter scope allows for visualization of the upper airway including the gutteral pouches and trachea. The longer three meter scope extends our visualization capabilities down the esophagus and into the stomach.
